About Us
Founded in 1929, Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, Inc. is a private, nonprofit social service agency serving the Summit University area of Saint Paul, Minnesota. We also operate branch service centers at Saint Paul Reformation Church and Sky Line Towers.
The organization operates five core programs:
- Early Learning Center (provides safe, affordable childcare for working parents and community residents on a sliding fee scale);
- Emergency Food & Clothing Needs (meets the emergency food and clothing needs of community residents);
- Senior Programming (enhances independence of seniors through services and activities);
- Social Development & Enrichment for Youth (provides organized activities for youth ages 5 to 14); and
- Multi-Service Center Administration (includes programs, classes, cultural events, and special projects).
Although HQB began as a settlement house for African Americans denied services from other agencies, we long ago opened the Center’s services to all people.
